    Algebraic structure underlying spherical, parabolic and prolate spheroidal bases of the nine-dimensional MICZ-Kepler problem

    Octonion algebra O\mathbb{O} has recently been used to study the fundamental physics of the Standard Model, such as its three-generation structure and its possibility of unifying gravity and quantum mechanics. Interestingly, this octonion algebra O\mathbb{O} has also been related to the SO(8)SO(8) monopole and, consequently, links to the nine-dimensional MICZ-Kepler problem. This problem has been solved exactly by the variables separation method in three different coordinate systems, spherical, parabolic, and prolate spheroidal. In the present study, we establish a relationship between the variable-separation and the algebraic structure of SO(10)SO(10) symmetry. Each of the spherical, parabolic, or prolate spheroidal bases is proved to be a set of eigenfunctions of a corresponding nonuplet of algebraically-independent integrals of motion. This finding also helps us to establish connections between the bases by the algebraic method. This connection, in turn, allows calculating a complicated integral of confluent Heun, generalized Laguerre, and generalized Jacobi polynomials, which may be engaging in analytics.Comment: 21 pages, no figures.     Indoor assistance for visually impaired people using a RGB-D camera

    In this paper a navigational aid for visually impaired people is presented. The system uses a RGB-D camera to perceive the environment and implements self-localization, obstacle detection and obstacle classification. The novelty of this work is threefold. First, self-localization is performed by means of a novel camera tracking approach that uses both depth and color information. Second, to provide the user with semantic information, obstacles are classified as walls, doors, steps and a residual class that covers isolated objects and bumpy parts on the floor. Third, in order to guarantee real time performance, the system is accelerated by offloading parallel operations to the GPU. Experiments demonstrate that the whole system is running at 9 Hz

    A High-Throughput Hardware Implementation of NAT Traversal For IPSEC VPN

    In this paper, we present a high-throughput FPGA implementation of IPSec core. The core supports both NAT and non-NAT mode and can be used in high speed security gateway devices. Although IPSec ESP is very computing intensive for its cryptography process, our implementation shows that it can achieve high throughput and low lantency. The system is realized on the Zynq XC7Z045 from Xilinx and was verified and tested in practice. Results show that the design can gives a peak throughput of 5.721 Gbps for the IPSec ESP tunnel mode in NAT mode and 7.753 Gbps in non-NAT mode using one single AES encrypt core. We also compare the performance of the core when running in other mode of encryption

    Exploring Perceived Speaking Skills, Motives, and Communication Needs of Undergraduate Students Studying Japanese Language

    This study investigated the perceived speaking skills of undergraduate students who were majoring or minoring in Japanese Studies at two universities in Vietnam and Bulgaria. It also examined the factors associated with students’ speaking skills, their motives for studying Japanese, and their needs for communication with native Japanese speakers while proposing a hypothetical model linking these constructs. A total of 108 students participated in the cross-sectional online survey questionnaire, which included questions on personal information, perceived Japanese language skills, motives for studying Japanese, needs for communication with native Japanese speakers, and self-esteem. The data were analyzed using SPSS. The results showed that the respondents perceived their Japanese speaking skills level as lower than the other three skills. Factors such as age, year of enrollment, years studying Japanese, English level, co-living status, study abroad experience, and self-esteem were found to be associated with the perceived speaking skills of the respondents. Family-related factors, such as parents’ education and the family’s study abroad experience, were also found to be associated with perceived speaking skills. The study also validated three constructs of motives for studying Japanese, including being interested in Japan, being interested in communication, and being interested in going to Japan and highlighting the respondents’ needs for communication with native speakers. The proposed model suggests that motives for studying Japanese influence perceived speaking skills and the need for communication with native Japanese speakers. The findings of this study have implications for Japanese language education, particularly in the development of teaching strategies that enhance students’ speaking skills and provide opportunities for communication with native speakers. It also underscores the importance of understanding students’ motives for studying Japanese, as these motivations can influence their language proficiency and the effectiveness of language education programs
